Spell ABC - Starts with mode

At its simplest level Spell ABC is designed to help the user learn the first letter of words. Starting with this basic concept enables spelling to become attainable even to those for whom it has been unattainable before. Spell ABC progresses the learner through levels of difficulty so that at first the word is displayed and they need only click on the first letter, next they are given two letters to choose from, the difficulty increases progressively until finally the learner is presented with the whole alphabet to choose from.

Full word mode

Spell ABC progresses the user through learning to spell complete words by breaking this task down into simple, and attainable, steps. As an entry point Spell ABC spells the complete word, highlighting each letter as it is spelt, and then displays the full word in the correct order for the learner to then spell. The next level of difficulty simply scrambles the letters of the word. Spell ABC increases the difficulty progressively until, in the most difficult level, the user is asked to spell the word and is given the complete alphabet to choose from.

Automatic mode – adjusts difficulty based on use

Spell ABC includes an automatic mode that responds to the learner by making words easier or harder as the learner spells words and gets those words correct or incorrect. While the user can choose the level on which to start, when the automatic mode is selected Spell ABC responds to the learner on a word-by-word basis automatically adjusting the level of each word for the learner. This response aides learning by challenging, or reinforcing, where needed. Automatic mode can be used with both the ‘starts with’ option or with spelling whole words.

Game mode – challenges the user to get as many words right as possible

Spell ABC includes a game mode that challenges the user to get as many words right as possible within a set time-frame. Game mode makes spelling fun and can be exciting and challenging for all users.

Spell ABC includes more than 4000 words with pre-recorded sounds and many with images. It also includes a number of lists of words. Spell ABC makes it easy to add your own word, pictures and sounds should you find those words are not already included. Spell ABC also steps you through the process of making, and editing, your own lists of words.

Multiple users

Spell ABC can be setup for multiple users each with their own lists and individual settings including the appropriate difficulty levels on which to start. This is ideal for the class setting where multiple spelling groups exist, all of whom are learning different words.
